The intercooled S54 VT2-525 supercharger system produces 525hp and 340lb-ft of torque at 8psi of boost. A 192hp gain over stock, eclipsing the output of an E60 M5! Featuring the self contained Vortech V3 supercharger unit in Si trim.
The VT2-525 comes with a high capacity front mount intercooler (FMIC) and a specially developed cast aluminum intake manifold assembly with an integrated high capacity bypass valve designed not only for optimum flow, but for minimal weight to not disrupt the iconic chassis balance of the M3. The VT2-525 is a complete system with everything you need and is easily upgradeable as all the major hardware components are the same all the way up to our VT3-700.
The supercharger system includes the ESS E-Flash OBD2 cable and specific ESS engine software that is perfectly calibrated for the VT2-525 supercharged engine providing optimum ignition timing under all conditions, re-calibrated throttle control for quicker throttle response, re-calibrated VANOS control, and perfectly optimized fuel delivery. The dyno limiter and top speed governors are also removed. The E-Flash allows the end user to upload the supercharger ECU software from any PC running Windows 7 or newer and includes a full diagnostic and code clearing capability. Any future ESS software updates can be received by email and loaded directly to the car. The stock ECU software will be saved and can easily be restored in the future.
Power delivery is 100% smooth and of OEM standard. The car behaves just like stock until you demand power, then the car completely transform providing brutal acceleration normally reserved for pure race cars.

I was nervous about buying ANY SC kit for my M3 but read and saw good things about the ESS kits so I bought one. The parts in the kit were really high quality parts with amazing fit and finish. EVERYTHING I needed to install on my car was in the box - all quality stuff down to the hose clamps. The instructions were a good guide - a few better pictures would be my only improvement with them. After getting the kit installed the worst part was waiting on the needed software to run my car - I was just impatient wanting to drive the car - Really great quality parts and EVERYTHING needed to install on your M3 !! This has been one of my best purchasing experiences. The kit looks like stock when installed and feels great.
I can see the argument for keeping the E46 M3 naturally aspirated since the engine is a marvel. However, this kit does not really change the fundamental nature of the car. It's still the same highly strung, quick-revving, noisy beast as before - except power is now at supercar levels at high revs. Power delivery is incredible. Drivability is stock-like, with none of the dodgy idle and dead spot issues that can bedevil aftermarket tunes. While the kit is not cheap at $7k or so, on a dollar-per-horsepower basis it is impressive. The kit can also be easily removed and can generally be sold for $4-$5k. And, unlike many mods, it is possible to recoup a reasonable amount of the initial outlay when selling with the car - if recent Bring a Trailer auctions of supercharged M3s are indicative.
